DMCA Policy
uapkg respects intellectual property rights and expects publishers and users of the registry to do the same.
This policy describes how copyright complaints, takedown requests, and counter-notifications may be handled by the registry maintainer/operator.
uapkg is an independently operated open source project and not a commercial hosting provider or legal adjudication service.
Reporting Copyright Infringement
If you believe content available through the registry infringes your copyright or other intellectual property rights, you may submit a takedown notice to the registry maintainer/operator.
Reports should include reasonably sufficient information to allow identification and evaluation of the reported content.
Where reasonably possible, include:
- Your name and contact information
- Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed
- Identification of the allegedly infringing package, metadata, documentation, or content
- Relevant URLs, package names, versions, or registry references
- A statement describing the basis of the claim
- A statement that you believe the reported use is unauthorized
- A statement that the information provided is accurate to the best of your knowledge
Incomplete or unverifiable reports may not receive a response or action.
Copyright notices and counter-notifications may be submitted using the registry contact methods listed on the Contact page.
Counter-Notifications
If you believe content was removed or restricted in error, you may submit a counter-notification or explanatory response.
Counter-notifications should include:
- Identification of the affected content
- Relevant package names, versions, or registry references
- A statement explaining why you believe the removal or restriction was incorrect
- Supporting evidence or clarification where applicable
- Contact information for follow-up communication
Submission of a counter-notification does not guarantee reinstatement, restoration, or continued availability of content.
Registry Response and Discretion
uapkg maintainers/operators may investigate reports and take action at their discretion.
Possible actions may include:
- Removing packages or metadata
- Restricting access to content
- Unlisting packages
- Disabling package distribution
- Limiting publisher access
- Preserving historical or forensic records
- Requesting clarification or additional evidence
uapkg maintainers/operators may comply with takedown requests beyond strict legal requirements where reasonably necessary to protect users, infrastructure, publishers, third parties, or the ecosystem.
The registry is not obligated to resolve disputes between parties or make formal legal determinations regarding ownership or infringement.
Repeat Infringement and Abuse
The registry may restrict, suspend, or remove publishers or accounts associated with repeated infringement claims, repeated policy violations, abusive takedown activity, fraudulent notices, or deceptive conduct.
Abuse of the reporting process, including knowingly false or malicious reports, may result in moderation or enforcement action.
Unreal Engine and Third-Party Content
Publishers are responsible for ensuring they possess the necessary rights and permissions to distribute:
- Unreal Engine-related content
- Plugins and binaries
- Marketplace assets
- Third-party SDKs or middleware
- Generated artifacts
- Documentation and media assets
uapkg is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or officially associated with Epic Games, Inc. or Unreal Engine.
Archival, Mirrors, and Historical Records
To support ecosystem continuity, reproducibility, operational integrity, security investigation, and dependency preservation, the registry may retain or preserve:
- Historical metadata
- Integrity manifests
- Dependency references
- Cached records
- Generated documentation
- Search indexes
- Mirrors and archival artifacts
- Backup records
As a result:
- Historical references to removed content may continue to exist
- Mirrors or cached records may persist temporarily after removal
- Generated or derived artifacts may remain archived
- Dependency graphs or integrity records may continue referencing removed packages
Removal from active distribution does not guarantee immediate or complete removal of all historical references, backups, caches, or archival records.
